Awkwafina
American musician and actor Awkwafina made her debut with humorous hip-hop tracks that addressed sexual identity and race with a the most outrageous comedy perspective prior to broadening her reach to Hollywood. Nora Lum was born to Chinese-Korean immigrants who resided in Forest Hills Queens. Her first experience with music came through the instrument of trumpet. The classical, jazz, and hip-hop studies began when she was in her teens. While at school, she majored in journalism and women's studies at college, even learning Mandarin in Beijing during a brief time. After graduating, it wasn't until when she decided to turn her attention to music. My Vag, her track My Vag which was her response to Mickey Avalons My Dick, became a viral hit via the Internet and was later featured on her first LP Yellow Ranger. On the album, there was other hits that went viral, including Queef (body-positive) as well as NYC Bitchethe cost of $. The second track linked into Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide published in the year 2015, and was a different initiative. With musician and author in her portfolio, she decided to set her sights on an actor for a third venture. In addition to early shows such as Girl Code and Tawk she was also featured in movies like Neighbors 2 Storks and Bad Rap. In 2018 she was able to land major roles in a variety of high-profile films such as Dude Ocean's 8, and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP was released in June.
